I still remember it like it was yesterday. I had gotten into a pattern of negative thinking to the point that it was affecting my health and my family. Then one morning, the Lord got me up at 4:30 AM for correction from His Word. As someone who has never been a morning person, this was pretty significant. But that’s what it took for Him to get my attention. That’s when I knew—this was serious.

Correction from the Lord isn’t something I naturally welcome. It’s uncomfortable. It disrupts my routine. It forces me to confront things I’d rather push aside. But as I sat there in the early morning stillness, flipping through Scripture with sleep still in my eyes, I realized something: God wasn’t trying to punish me. He was trying to help me.

Hebrews 12:11 puts it plainly: “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” In that moment, I wasn’t feeling the “peace” part—I was just feeling the weight of conviction. But looking back, I see how necessary that moment was.

God’s correction has shown up in my life in different ways. Sometimes, it’s a gentle nudge through Scripture. Other times, it’s a hard, undeniable wake-up call—literally. One of the biggest areas He’s had to correct me in is self-discipline, especially with my health. I’ve made excuses. I’ve justified unhealthy habits. But when the Lord finally stripped away my excuses, I had to face the truth: I wasn’t stewarding my body well, and that wasn’t okay.

It wasn’t easy to admit, and it definitely wasn’t pleasant to change. But that’s the thing about God’s correction—it’s never about making us feel bad; it’s about making us better. He doesn’t correct us out of anger or disappointment. He does it because He loves us too much to let us stay stuck.

Maybe you’re in a season where God is correcting you—whether it’s in your health, your mindset, your relationships, or even your faith. If it feels uncomfortable, you’re not alone. But I can tell you this: if you lean into His correction instead of resisting it, you’ll come out stronger, wiser, and more at peace than you ever thought possible.

Because when God wakes you up—whether at 4:30 AM or through another means—you can trust that He’s doing it for your good.
