“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me.” — Psalm 28:7

I’m continuing to learn the many ways the Lord will guide me—if I just pause long enough to listen. His direction isn’t always dramatic or loud. More often, it’s gentle, steady, and perfectly timed.

Sometimes it’s the whisper that reminds me to set my alarm a little earlier so I can exercise and pray before the demands of my day take over. Sometimes it’s that quiet nudge in the grocery store, steering me toward healthy choices when my cravings want to fill the cart with junk food. Sometimes it’s the invitation to rest, even when my to-do list is overflowing, because He knows my body needs recovery just as much as movement. And sometimes it’s the divine arrangement of circumstances in a way so specific, so timely, that I can only say, “That was God.”

Hearing His Voice in the Little Things

We often think of God’s guidance as being about the “big decisions”—where to live, what job to take, who to marry. But He also cares deeply about the small, daily choices that shape our health and well-being.

It’s in those moments we might overlook:

  • Choosing water over soda.
  • Taking a walk instead of scrolling on our phones.
  • Breathing deeply instead of reacting in stress.
  • Saying no to overcommitment so we can say yes to rest.

These small acts of obedience may not seem like much, but over time, they form patterns that strengthen our bodies and our faith.

Stewardship of the Body

Our bodies are not just shells to carry us through life—they are gifts from God, entrusted to us for His purposes. Scripture reminds us:

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit… You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

When we nourish our bodies, we are thanking Him for His provision. When we move them, we are honoring His design. When we rest, we are trusting His wisdom.

Taking care of ourselves is not selfish—it’s an act of worship. It’s a declaration that we value what He values, and we’re willing to align our habits with His calling.

You’re Not Doing This Alone

The path to better health can feel overwhelming, especially when progress seems slow or obstacles pile up. But here’s the good news: You’re not meant to do it in your own strength.

God is with you in every choice, every step, every workout, and every moment of rest. His Spirit gives you the perseverance to keep showing up, the wisdom to make good choices, and the grace to start again when you stumble.

This week, remember:
You’re not in this alone. Every healthy choice is an act of stewardship for the body God gave you. Show up today—not just for yourself, but for Him.
